more snow less warmth

So it's snowed again since I last posted and guess what, I had to drive in it. Yeah I freaked out and prayed the whole time as I gripped my steering wheel. It turns out that not only did I drive in snow, it was a snow squall. Apparently we are getting some of Canada's Lake Snow effects. I didn't even know what Lake Snow was until I drove in it and let me tell you it's no fun. I thought I would slide right off the road and land in a ditch. However, I made it without slipping or sliding. While the car in front of me fish tailed down the road I carefully and very very slowly followed him and cruised along in a straight path. I was so relieved though when the snow finally stopped blowing in gusts in front of me, beside me and all around me. I literally couldn't see anything but the dim lights of cars. I turned down the wring road cause I couldn't see the street signs even with me sitting right beside them looking in what I thought was their general direction. At one point I found out that I was in the wrong lane. I was blindly following the person in front of me assuming they knew where they were going, nope they were in the on coming traffics lane. I will never do that again. I'll just stick to eyeing out what looks like my lane and pray that I am where I need to be. haha
So anyways I made it through the storm and got to my destination and stayed the whole night so I wouldn't have to get caught in it again or slip on black ice, another thing I've learned about since being up here.
Though it's warmer today...it's around 40 which is sad that I think that to be warm...I'm still praying for 50 degree whether cause the single digits are just too low!

Oh my Lord!

Oh my Lord it's cold up here! I'm gonna freeze my bum off...which for those of you who know me that is really not good. I've not been well endowed there so I really can't afford to freeze my bum off...yeah okay enough about that. But no seriously it's freaking cold outside. The other day it was 12 degrees when I woke up. Obviously I did not want to get out of bed let alone go outside and walk around campus. Ahhhhh! Oh and it snowed..but not only did it snow it stuck to the road. All you friends in AL know that when it's on the road bad things happen. I was afraid to drive for fear of being plowed down by the salter machine. hahaha not really I was more intimidated at the fact that I've never driven with snow on the ground. As a side not though the salting machine I saw was Ginormous. SO look out!
I met a few more people today which was great! I still haven't found a job which is not so good so please pray that something will come through soon. I need to eat, yo! (I'm not starving yet..fortunately I was a saver so I have a bit on reserve but it won't last forever.)
Anyways I must go study. this J-term is getting worse and worse. I enjoy the information I'm learning most of the time but there's a lot of work that has to go into it. Like I have a test Thursday when I just had one yesterday and then another one on Tuesday and a paper due Monday and then I must give a presentation on the 31st. How crazy is that? Insane! Shout back at me if ya can! Later!

I Have a friend

Yeah I have a friend now. It's so exciting. I now know someone on campus. I knew them previously and didn't know they go to Messiah until Tuesday. It's so exciting for me. YEAH!! I'm not alone any more.

farm show

Whoever can guess what kind of animal this is a picture of will win a phone call from me!

I went to the farm show yesterday with my one aunt and two of my cousins and their kids. We were looking at some of the cows that were lying down. There was one in particular that caught our attention because it was groaning and it was pregnant. I said, "hey wouldn't it be cool if it gave birth right now?" My cousin Lindell said, "Yeah that would be neat." then she and her boys went around the corner leaving my Aunt Ruthann and I as we looked on even more. I saw the tail move and thought, "Oh my gosh I wonder if it will really go into labor." Well, that's not exactly what happened. I saw...now forgive me this may sound a bit crude...it's butt hole kind of poke out and I thought, "what in the world?" I was standing about a foot away and my aunt was about 2 feet away. We heard this noise and she said, "Run!" It started farting so loud. It sounded really weird like it was flapping the butt together. It farted all over me but fortunately all that came out was air. I sighed and said to my aunt, "Thank God it didn't poop." She said, "Oh no they don't do that lying down." haha Thank God for that. So I was farted on by a really big pregnant cow. The moaning must have been from gas pains as opposed to labor pains.

my house

Here is a long awaited photo of where I live. I will post a picture of my room when it's cleaned up a bit better. I still have some stuff to pack away so it's not up to par yet.
I had my first day of class today and it was a bit odd. I lost my car. hahaha I have to park down a hill and accross a covered bridge. In order to get to my class I must walk accross the bridge, up the hill, around some buildings and across the lawn to get to my building. Upon leaving my class room I turned around the wrong building and I don't really know where I ended up but it wasn't where my car was. Finally when I found it I had to jump in quick before the next wind gust took my breath away. It was very windy and cold today. I had on my big puffy feather jacket, scarf, knee high wool sox with another pair of sox on top of those, a shirt on with a sweater over it, gloves, and a hat and i was still afraid of losing some of my extremities to frost bite. I don't think my Alabama body has adjusted yet.
I went for a walk later on after school and had my sun glasses on to try t keep mmy eyes from drying and feezing from the wind...it kept my eyes from freezing but I had to defrost the rest of my face when I got home. I'm telling you what it's cold up here. I hope all you AL folks are enjoying you warmth!

start of school

School starts tomorrow. Please pray for me! Pray that I have a good teacher/that I click with the teacher and the students. I am a little nervous. I have been on campus a few times but I will be parking in a whole new lot that is accross a covered bridge and down a hill. I will have to hike up the hill and find where my building is and hopefully make it on time. Lord Jesus help me!
Oh and also pray about a position at CVS. I will be going to talk to the pharmacist and CVS manager tomorrow after class. I am hoping to get a job as a pharmacy technician. So pray that I have favor. I've put in an apllication and everything I'm just doing an un-announced follow up visit. So pray that if this is the job for me that I would have favor and grace and a JOB!

it's been about a week

Hey all! So it's been a week since I've arrived. I'm still getting settled in but I'm almost done. School starts Wed. Until then I've been hanging out with my relatives. Fortunately I have a wonderful aunt and uncle that are allowing me to hang out with them until I get more settled in. I think once school starts things will be easier for me. I am hoping to be able to meet some more people through church and school.
I have been visiting a church here in the area, tomorrow will be my second time to go. I received a letter telling me of a young adults group that I can plug into but it doesn't start until the 28th of this month. Hopefully I can get some friends from that.
Last night I made dinner with the help of my cousin Angie. Her husband Jeff came over and ate dinner with me and my other cousin Eric. We had fun eating, playing a game, and then just hanging out.

I have internet

Hey everyone! I now have Internet. Yeah!! The Verizon wireless guy came today and hooked it up for me. I now have wireless in my new home. It's great! So you can write me anytime and I will be able to write back whenever. How great is that? hahaha
I will try to pot some pictures soon of what my house looks like and my newly decorated room. I have a few more things to spiff up in my room before I want to post pictures.
