school

this is not my school uniform..it's for work. the school ones aren't as pretty.

So I started school about two and a half weeks ago. things are going well. It's a little boring here and there but overall it's okay. My clinical assignment right now is at Lancaster general hospital in the orthopedic unit. Interesting but I see some of that stuff where I work too. Maybe this week it will be a little more interesting for me. I get a new patient/client assignment every Monday afternoon. Last week there wasn't a hole lot to do. So I worked on paper work which is what most of my nursing career will be spent doing...well that and distributing meds.

Interesting story though. when i was up on my unit for the first time I saw and Amish woman that works there. I found that so intriguing. I didn't know that Amish worked in hospitals... and if she wasn't Amish she was a very very very conservative Mennonite. She had the white bonnet, the cape dress, the black stockings, the famous black shoes, and as far as I could tell no buttons. So I am hoping to run into her again. I'd like to get a closer look to see if she is using clasps or needle's to keep her dress on...that will be a deciding factor as to if she's Mennonite or Amish. I'm a dork I know. I have to keep myself from starring sometimes but I'm not used to the "conservative" lifestyle that you find so many involved in here in Lancaster County. It's interesting but not fascinating enough for me to convert. I'm good right where I'm at. I don't feel like God is calling me to a life of horses and buggies and "plain" clothes so to speak...I do however want to learn more about those that are living like that. Why? I don't know.

So anyhow...pray that my studies go well. I'm a bit overwhelmed at this point with all the reading we're having to do. It's a whole heck of a lot and it gets old and tiresome after a while.
